Since 2017, the World Federation of Orthodontists (W.F.O.) has declared May 15 as “World Orthodontic Health Day,” a day for orthodontists worldwide to celebrate and emphasize the need and importance of orthodontics in overall health. This year, the Board of Directors of E.O.G.M.E. celebrated this day with an awareness and public information event held at Zappeion, on May 11, 2019, in Athens.
We hope that next year this celebration will expand across the country as part of a nationwide effort by E.O.G.M.E. to inform citizens about the prevention and proper treatment of orofacial anomalies.
A smile is the crown of our face and the mirror of our soul. As specialized orthodontists, we ensure this mirror shines brightly!
Since our teeth are crucial to our overall health and our smile even more so, children should visit a specialized orthodontist by the age of 7 at the latest.
Adults seek a specialized orthodontist either upon referral from their dentist or as soon as they feel the need.
Orthodontics has been the first officially recognized specialty of Dentistry in our country since 1988. The orthodontic specialty is continuously evolving, and it is the duty of practitioners to stay informed about new, clinically tested, and scientifically validated techniques. It is also crucial to study and treat each orthodontic patient individually, based on their unique characteristics and needs.
The Society of Orthodontic & Maxillofacial Study & Research (E.O.G.M.E.), the organizing Society, is the oldest Orthodontic Society in Greece.
It was founded 32 years ago and has since made every effort to inform the public about the importance of prevention and the proper treatment of orthodontic anomalies.
It has organized 16 national scientific conferences with international participation of distinguished scientists, as well as seminars for the continuous education of orthodontists and numerous public awareness programs.
A healthy smile is a gift of life that unites us forever!!!
Because a smile is health, and health is happiness!!!
