Iris Michelaki
Iris Michelaki excelled academically from a young age, throughout her middle and high school years, and was admitted to the National and Kapodistrian School of Dentistry of the University of Athens, earning her Doctor in Dental Surgery Degree, DDS ranking in the top tiers of her class.
She obtained a full specialization title in Orthodontics and Maxillofacial Orthopedics at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, as the first Greek graduate of this historic program. At the same time, she received a Masters of Science in Dentistry, fulfilling extensive research requirements. In 2024, she earned the distinguished title of Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists, an extremely important certification granted only after a rigorous examination process.
Iris was early on fascinated by the amazing transformations that Dentofacial Orthopedics could offer to children, teens and adolescences alike, so she focused into excelling into this field. She undertook continuous voluntary work at Greatsmiles Clinic and took part to a great number of dental screenings in kindergarten and primary schools of the Municipality of Maroussi.
Driven by her commitment to excellence, she pursued postgraduate studies at the renowned University of Washington in Seattle, home to one of the world’s most prestigious Orthodontic Departments. Iris was the first Greek resident ever accepted into this esteemed program, successfully completing a rigorous three-year residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2023. During this time, she also participated in a highly selective committee interview process of incoming residents, further demonstrating her leadership and expertise.
She also earned a Masters of Science in Dentistry degree by fulfilling extensive research requirements. Her thesis, “Force Decay in Thermoformed Aligner Plastics,” was recognized for its excellence and chosen to represent the University of Washington’s Department of Orthodontics for a prestigious research award.
Upon completion of her studies, Iris took the necessary exams for the dental committees of the United States (USA Dental Boards), successfully obtaining a license to practice in the United States.
She holds presentations and publications in USA and Europe and is a full member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Board of Orthodontists.
Aside of being a passionate Orthodontist, Iris is an amazing clinician with true love to all patients she treats, a great collaborator, filled with care and empathy for everyone.
Her community initiatives include pro bono screenings and educational initiatives in cooperation with national charitable organizations such as the “Smile of the Child” and internationals as the “Special Olympics”.
In her free time she loves travelling, skiing, reading and spending time by her beloved seaside, her lifelong source of inspiration and tranquility.
